Qualifications ensure trust and confidenceCIArb revamps its education programmes
28 November 2006 - The Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb), the international organisation of excellence for private dispute resolution, has today launched an updated and modernised programme leading to its Fellowship qualification and has created a new programme leading to qualification as an accredited adjudicator, in order to improve the learning experience for candidates and assure a programme that is fit for purpose. After speaking to its members, committees and external establishments, one of the requirements identified and now enforced was the need for greater flexibility - busy professionals were finding it increasingly difficult to find time away from the day-to-day pressures of work. Additionally, online training will improve accessibility to CIArb qualifications. Existing practitioners who may wish to qualify as multi-disciplinary dispute resolvers will significantly benefit from the transparent, outcome based modules, which provide clear routes for their professional development.
Commenting, Michael Forbes Smith, Director General at CIArb said: “The CIArb has great pleasure in announcing the new and updated qualification programmes for arbitrators, mediators and adjudicators. The qualifications will ensure continuing trust by giving users confidence that the practitioners selected hold recognised quali fications. This will also provide practitioners with t he credibility of being the global benchmark for their profession and discipline.
As the CIArb is the only body to act as a professional home for private dispute resolvers on a global level, it is our duty to maintain public confidence, promote private dispute resolutions and set consistent standards. The new and updated qualifications programmes will further reinforce the notion that private dispute resolution is a serious alternative to litigation.”
