North American Branch (NAB) Update

Tuesday 28 July 2015

In May, John W. Garman was elected as Chair of the North American Branch (NAB), taking over from Mandy Aylen. The motto for his tenure is: “Expand, Encourage, Engage and Establish.”

In the first six months of 2015, the NAB expanded with programs in Mexico City, Southern California, the Cayman Islands, Los Angeles and Washington DC.

In May 2015, the Mexico and Texas Chapters of the NAB united in a networking event in Mexico City with more than 40 arbitration practitioners.  A members’ meeting also took place to discuss ideas on how to increase the value of the membership and the development of energy arbitration in Mexico in light of recent energy reform. In June, the NAB held its Centenary Conference in Los Angeles with the aim of boosting CIArb’s profile in North America.
