The ACCA Mediation Scheme

What is the ACCA Mediation Scheme

The Chartered Institute of Arbitrators administer the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) Mediation Scheme, for members of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) (including firms regulated by ACCA) in dispute with clients or any other parties.

The ACCA scheme does not apply to disputes where one or other of the parties has already initiated legal action, unless that action is suspended or discontinued by agreement or by order of the court.

The ACCA scheme mostly applies to disputes between two parties but, if they and the mediator agree, the scheme may be extended to cover disputes involving three or more parties. Where there are more than two parties to the dispute the fees of the administrator and the mediator may be renegotiated prior to any party, the administrator or the mediator incurring any cost in respect of the arbitration.
