An internationally recognised course designed to provide a thorough understanding of the practice and procedure of international commercial arbitration, and a platform to progress to CIArb Fellowship.

The Diploma attracts candidates across numerous countries, including Australia, Canada, England, France, Hong Kong, Ireland, Israel, Malaysia, New Zealand, Nigeria, Singapore, Scotland, Thailand and the USA.

The course is designed for practising lawyers, professionals who are familiar with legal reasoning and concepts and are involved in arbitration, those that wish to increase their knowledge and understanding of international commercial arbitration, Members or Fellows of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators who have experience of domestic arbitration practice and wish to extend their knowledge to include international arbitration procedures.

The Diploma is split into two elements:

The first element is delivered over 9 days, and consists of lectures, tutorials, discussion workshops and an examination. This is a residential course and all lectures, meals and accommodation will take place at Jesus College, one of the largest constituent colleges in the University of Oxford. The examination takes place at CIArb, Bloomsbury Square, London on 16 October 2013.

The second element is the CIArb Module 4 - Award Writing (International Arbitration), which is delivered over 4 months, with a combination of private study and face-to-face tutorials. The course commences on the 28 October 2013 and consists of an assignment and an examination.

At the end of the course, candidates will gain the Diploma in International Commercial Arbitration certified by the CIArb, relevant and detailed understanding of international arbitration, use of the designatory letters DipICArb, CPD points and a progression route to fellowship of the Institute.
