How to set up a branch

Institute members can apply to set up a new Branch, if there are sufficient numbers to make it a viable proposition.

We suggest that there should be at least 50 members who have been identified as being interested in getting actively involved e.g. attending meetings, standing for Committee elections, co-ordinating training, writing annual reports, organising AGMs and other Branch meetings, operating a website, and generally promoting the use of dispute resolution and attracting new members.

One person should be selected to act as interim Branch Chairman and it will be their responsibility to canvass potential members and formally apply to the CIArb's Board of Trustees to form a Branch. Once approved, they will be required to organise Committee elections.

Each year, the Committee must then elect a Chairman, an Honorary Secretary, an Honorary Treasurer and a Public Relations Officer.

Branch model rules can be downloaded from this page.
