The CIArb received a delegation of 10 from the Vietnamese judiciary on Wednesday, 5th December. The delegation was on a study tour to learn about how the English courts and arbitration centres handle and settle commercial disputes and how they use IT.
The judges were welcomed by the CIArb President 2007, Hew Dundas, who gave a presentation on international commercial dispute prevention and resolution. As well as describing and contrasting the various dispute resolution processes, he positioned the scope of the CIArb’s work in the context of other ADR bodies.
Mike Owen, Director of Marketing, Membership & Training, gave an overview of the CIArb and its activities. Allan Connarty, Managing Director of IDRS Ltd., gave a presentation on how IDRS handles disputes. He spoke about the IT systems IDRS currently uses and revealed plans for the introduction of online mechanisms in 2008.
At the end of the visit the President presented the delegation with a photo of the Royal Charter, which was granted to the CIArb by Her Majesty the Queen in 2005. |
