A professional Civil Engineer with over 45 years’ experience in claims, scheduling and time impact analysis, contract negotiation, contract administration, project management, project portfolio management, and construction of infrastructure and building projects. He is a competent contract administrator and practitioner with wide experience in disputes and claims management and application of General Conditions of Contract. He has undertaken claims assessment for various engineering consultants and prepared claims on behalf of contractors. His knowledge covers the FIDIC 4th Edition; FIDIC 1999 conditions, the FIDIC (MDB) conditions, NEC3 Conditions; EDF and EU Conditions and the JCT Conditions of Contract. He is also familiar with and has prepared claims for Contractors on other local Conditions of Contract.
Mr. Kain holds a degree in Civil Engineering and a post graduate diploma in Project Management from the University of Liverpool.
Mr. Kain’s experience covers Eastern, Southern and Northern Africa, the United Kingdom and the Caribbean on projects funded by various international funding agencies including the World Bank, African Development Bank, European Development Bank and the Caribbean Development Bank. He has acted as an expert on the interpretation and application of the FIDIC forms of Contract and has conducted training programmes on the use of the FIDIC Conditions and other forms of Contract.
Mr Kain advises on the use of appropriate information computer technology solutions related to project management, resource & equipment management, contract administration, cost estimation, cost control, critical path analysis, programme scheduling and time impact analysis.
His 30 years’ Africa experience covers North, East and Southern Africa including Tanzania, Uganda, Kenya, Rwanda, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Angola, Botswana, Namibia, Zambia, Egypt, South Africa, and Mozambique.
