Arbitration Reform - An Opportunity for Scotland

Arbitration News / 09 February 2010

The Arbitration (Scotland) Bill 2009 was formally passed by the Scottish Parliament on 18 November 2009.

Letters Patent signifying Her Majesty's Assent to the Arbitration (Scotland) Bill were recorded in the Register of the Great Seal on Tuesday 5 January 2010.

Commencement is now expected around May 2010, slightly later than previously envisaged but it is necessary to wait for Rules of Court to deal with matters arising out of the Act requiring Court involvement especially (in the short term) Rules 7(6), 12-16 and 21-23.
