Last chance to complete CIArb Costs survey
CIArb News / 15 June 2011
CIArb is calling on all lawyers and arbitrators working in the field of international arbitration to take part in a major Costs survey ahead of the deadline on 24 June.
The 'Costs of International Arbitration' survey will gather data to inform parties, legal representatives and arbitrators about the overall costs of international commercial arbitration and how these are incurred at each stage.
The results will be analysed and presented at an international conference organised by CIArb and sponsored by Alvarez & Marsal on 27 - 28 September 2011 in London, aimed at uncovering ways in which costs might be reduced and the process streamlined to become more cost-effective and efficient.
Doug Jones SC FCIArb, President of CIArb said: "From listening to the views of CIArb members and others working in the field, it is clear that costs are a growing area of concern for the international arbitration community as a whole.
Our Costs of International Arbitration survey aims to gather clear, accurate and up to date information about what is really happening in this area. By gaining a clearer picture of the total costs incurred at every stage of the arbitration process, we can begin to identify ways of keeping these costs to a minimum."
Michael Forbes Smith MCIArb, Director General of CIArb added: "Without the support of those working in the profession we will simply not be able to do this. We therefore urge legal representatives, in house counsel and arbitral members to take some time to complete this important survey and to invite friends and colleagues to do the same. The more information we gather, the more useful this will be to the whole international arbitration community."
