Applications sought for the post of Chairman of the Board of Management

Applications are sought from CIArb members for the post of Chairman of the Board of Management, to take office from 1 July 2010.
The appointment, by the Board of Trustees, will be for an initial six-month term from July to December 2010 (inclusive). Thereafter, the Chairman may serve, on annual re-appointment, until December 2012.
The Board of Management
The Board of Trustees delegates, to the Board of Management, responsibility for all strategic business decisions made on behalf of CIArb. It normally meets six times annually, as the Chairman directs.
Under the Chairman's direction, the Board of Management oversees the day-to-day management of CIArb and ensures that CIArb's Executive, Committees and Branches function efficiently in accordance with the policies set down by the Board of Trustees.
It formulates the Regulations and other administrative instructions of the Institute. It appoints the members of the Institute's Standing Committees and Boards (except the Professional Conduct Committee). Other specific duties are set out in Regulation No 3 of the Institute.

Role of the Chairman of the Board of Management
This is a very important role in the administration of the Institute. We are seeking an exceptional individual, prepared to commit time, energy and industry to steering CIArb forward as we begin the second decade of the 21st Century. It would be useful if applicants had experience of the structures and administration of CIArb, including as office-holders, either at Branch or CIArb committee level.

Interviews will be held on 28/29 April 2010; candidates are asked to ensure their availability. The successful applicant will be notified by the Director General following confirmation of the appointment at the Board of Trustees' meeting concluding on 14 May 2010.
