New Board of Management Chairman

Richard Morris DipArb FCIArb, Head of Disputes at Systech International and based in London, has been appointed as Chairman of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators' Board of Management, following a meeting of the Board of Trustees on 13-14 May 2010.
Richard is an arbitrator, adjudicator and expert witness specialising in forensic delay analysis on construction and engineering projects worldwide.
Experience
A CIArb Fellow since 1997, he has most recently held office as an elected UK Trustee for the last six years, prior to which he served on the Institute's Council as a branch representative. At various times since 1992, he served on the Board of Management, as a member of the Arbitration Committee and at branch level as committee member, Secretary, Treasurer and Chairman of the East Anglia Branch.
Richard said: "I am delighted and excited to have been appointed as Chairman of the Board of Management. This is a pivotal role within the Institute, putting into effect the strategy and direction set out by the Board of Trustees with the support and effort of the Executive.
"I am hoping that together we can build on last year's excellent results in a businesslike and professional manner, to the benefit of the members and the public and to ensure that CIArb continues to set the gold standard for dispute resolution worldwide. I am looking forward to working closely with the exceptional individuals on the Board of Trustees, the Board of Management and the Executive to achieve these aims."
Valuable service
Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Steven Certilman FCIArb said: "I congratulate Richard on his well-deserved appointment. He brings extensive and wide-ranging experience in dispute resolution to this role, alongside nearly two decades of valuable service to the Institute, most recently as a UK Trustee. I have no doubt that he will use this experience to drive the strategic development of the Institute to the benefit of members and the public.
