US arbitrator and mediator takes the lead

US attorney Steven Certilman takes up his appointment as Chairman of CIArb's Board of Trustees this month.
Practising from Connecticut and New York, Steven is an international expert in the field of alternative dispute resolution (ADR). He brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the position.
Global dispute resolution community
Steven's dispute resolution practice blends both mediation and arbitration. This gives him a balanced persepective, helping him advance the global dispute resolution community, in common with CIArb's objective. Steven's longstanding connection with ADR in the United States will also help him increase growth of CIArb's North American Branch during 2009.
CIArb Director General, Michael Forbes Smith, said: "Steven's extensive experience, both as an ADR practitioner and as a CIArb Board member, is a major boon for us. In particular, his expertise across a range of ADR techniques will help him oversee our plans for the coming year."
CIArb Fellow
A Chartered Arbitrator and CIArb Fellow, Steven entered the ADR field in 1988 and serves as arbitrator and mediator in domestic and international cases. He specialises in information technology and intellectual property disputes. Steven is a member of many major ADR panels worldwide and is a published author, speaker and trainer on ADR topics.
