YMG Kenya Essay Competition

The Kenyan YMG is pleased to invite Kenyan YMG members to submit an essay on:

‘The role of Kenyan courts in arbitration proceedings and the extent this has been achieved with reference to recent case law.’

The winning entry will receive a cash prize of Kshs. 35,000 and a smaller cash prize will be awarded to the runners up. The winning entry will be published in CIArb Kenya’s Alternative Dispute Resolution Journal and the winner will be announced at the Inaugural Young Members’ Group conference being held on November 7, 2018 in Diani.

The competition will be judged by Dr Kariuki Muigua, Ch. Arbitrator.

Specifications for submission

  • Word length approx.. 3500-5000
  • Due date 20th October 2018 (midnight, Kenyan time)

Guidelines:

  • Please use British English spelling.
  • The article must be ones original writing.
  • Footnotes must be numbered.
  • Please submit your name, affiliation, location and title.
  • Please send MS word versions of your documents and not PDFs.

Significant progress on Advisory Centre for International Investment Law at UNCITRAL

In 2017, UNCITRAL Working Group III (WGIII) was launched and was tasked with working on procedural reform of the investor state dispute settlement (ISDS) system. From 1-5 April 2024, Ciarb participated in the 48th session of WGIII in its capacity as an observer delegate.
