Edward Corbett is acknowledged as one of the world’s most experienced international construction lawyers with an unsurpassed reputation as a FIDIC expert.
Edward has worked exclusively in construction law since 1984 and his experience includes contract drafting and procurement strategy as well as Dispute Boards, ICC arbitration, litigation and ADR. He has worked for contractors as well as for employers, funders and consultants. He regularly advises some of the world’s major employers and contractors and his current caseload involves projects in Europe, Africa, South Asia and the Middle East.

He has experience as an arbitrator and adjudicator on both UK and international disputes and is an accredited mediator. He is a FIDIC Certified Adjudicator.

Edward is the author of FIDIC 4th – A Practical Legal Guide and a contributor to FIDIC 2017 – A Practical Legal Guide. He has written many articles and papers dealing with aspects of international construction contracts. He was a founder of Construction Law International (CLInt). He has lectured extensively on construction law and in particular on FIDIC’s standard forms of contract. He is a FIDIC Certified Trainer.

Lucie Briggs is a barrister at Atkin Chambers in London where she specializes in construction and engineering, energy, information technology, and professional negligence disputes for a wide variety of contractors, private employers, manufacturers, and their professional advisers globally. She has a broad practice with expertise in domestic and international arbitration, domestic courts, mediation and all aspects of adjudication proceedings. As part of her diverse practice, she appears regularly as sole counsel in court, arbitration, mediation and adjudication hearings. She has also advised on and acted in appellant proceedings.
Lucie has more recently developed extensive experience and a particular specialism in cladding disputes and the Building Regulations relating to fire safety following the Grenfell fire. As well as advising on and representing parties in relation to cladding disputes, Lucie is regularly invited to give talks and seminars on the subject of the Building Regulations and cladding litigation post Grenfell.

Riaan is a member of the Johannesburg Society of Advocates and the Protea Group of Advocates in Sandton, Johannesburg. He has twenty-five years of legal and commercial experience and specialises in construction, engineering and infrastructure arbitrations.
Riaan is a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and Chairman of its South African Branch. In addition, he is a fellow of the Association of Arbitrators (Southern Africa), a member of the General Commercial Panel of the Arbitration Foundation of Southern Africa and acted as a judge for the High Court of South Africa. Lastly, the Centre for Effective Dispute Resolution (CDER) and the Africa Centre for Dispute Management accredits him as a mediator.”

William Godwin KC is a practising King’s Counsel, arbitrator and adjudicator with over 30 years’ experience in construction, technology and engineering disputes. He has very substantial experience of institutional and ad hoc international arbitrations and sits as an arbitrator and adjudicator, currently in three ICC construction arbitrations and a major UK Construction Act adjudication. He is an accredited adjudicator and arbitrator of the English Technology and Construction Bar Association and a panel member of various arbitral bodies.
William is a graduate (first class) of University College London and holds a doctorate at Oxford University.
He has special expertise in FIDIC contracts and was legal member of the FIDIC Updates Task Group responsible for drafting the second (2017) editions of the Red, Yellow and Silver Books. His book The 2017 FIDIC Contracts (Wiley 2020) is a commentary and comparative analysis of the new editions. His other publications include International Construction Contracts: a Handbook (Wiley 2013) and several articles on arbitration, construction and commercial law. He is a visiting lecturer at City, University of London.

Maria Fisentzou is a Chartered Civil Engineer, testified Delay Expert and CEDR accredited mediator, with over 30 years’ experience. She has acted as party-appointed delay expert on several construction and engineering projects in different parts of the world. Maria has given oral expert evidence in international arbitration, domestic adjudication and mediation proceedings. She has been appointed to provide advice and independent expert opinion to clients on a variety of planning/programming, forensic scheduling, and contractual issues. She also prepares delay and disruption analysis for claims for extension of time, loss and expense, and acceleration measures. Her work is applied not only to formal dispute resolution proceedings but also to risk assessments and negotiated settlements. Her extensive international experience includes working with a variety of contract forms including FIDIC, ICE, JCT and NEC.

Rosemary is described as an “exceptionally good mediator” who “quickly wins the confidence of clients with her knowledge of the issues, and appears to have endless reserves of patience, enthusiasm and optimism” (Legal 500 2022). As a full-time Mediator and Conciliator, Rosemary has also embraced virtual mediation since April 2020 with great effect. Her background in construction litigation, combined with good preparation, enables her to identify the issues incisively, and her approach is highly commercial. She has mediated and co-mediated disputes up to £2bn and between up to 10 parties. Many complex or multi-party mediations benefit from Rosemary’s ability to case-manage the dispute and participate in a structured mediation process over a number of months.

Brandon Malone is a barrister, advocate, arbitrator, and adjudicator based in London and Edinburgh. He is admitted to practice in Scotland, England, and Wales, and the DIFC. He conducted one of the first adjudications under the UK statutory adjudication regime in 1998 and has worked in construction and engineering law for many years. Brandon is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, taking over as Chairman of the Scottish Branch in April 2023. He was a founding director of the Scottish Arbitration Centre, serving as its Chairman from its inception to November 2022. Brandon is also a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors, and a FIDIC Certified Adjudicator.

I am a solicitor and independent arbitrator, ranked Band 1 by Chambers, with over 40 years' experience of cross border disputes in a wide variety of jurisdictions, courts and arbitral venues. I started my career as a criminal defence and civil liberties lawyer ( what we now call human rights) for 7 years , undertaking work before the criminal courts and ECHR. I joined Clyde &Co as partner, where I helped establish its office in the UAE. After 27 years, I joined RPC to head up the Arbitration group. I have practiced both in England and Singapore. I represented the UK government's export credit agency, ECGD ( now UKEF) for 30 years. I was elected to CIArb's Board of Trustees, a position I held for 8 years and Chair of the Board for 5 years, until 31/12/2022 . I am delighted to have been elected President for 2024.
