This online event is hosted by CIArb, entitled ‘The Way Forward in the New Normal’ and takes place on 2 December 2021 from 1pm to 2.30pm UK Time. Please check your local time zone.
Join us as we gaze into our crystal ball to see what the future holds for mediators.
May you live in interesting times sounds like a curse for those of us who see the glass half-empty, while for those appreciating the glass being half-full it screams opportunity.
While we may differ in our approach, we can all agree that our times are interesting. The COVID-19 pandemic has only increased uncertainty to unprecedented levels, speeding up the process of change across all industries and society. This has spilt over into law and dispute resolution.
There is no going back to ‘normal’. Yet, we can and should shape the new normal.
The winning formula for surviving and thriving requires the right mindset and steps. Firstly, adaptive, then analytical and, finally, pro-active and creative. Those are the steps that we will apply in our discussion focused on the recent shifts in the field of alternative dispute resolution (ADR).
We’ll explore:
- the state of digital transformation in ADR pre, during and post the pandemic;
- the cultural, technological and legal challenges of ADR going digital;
- what the new normal in ADR may look like;
- whether the current mediator and arbitrator training curriculum addresses the true needs of the new normal.
We invite you to join our speakers, representing a variety of experiences for a truly global outlook:
- Ban Jiun Ean, Executive Director of Singapore Mediation Centre (SMC)
- Luíza Kömel FCIArb, Deputy Secretary General of Center for Arbitration and Mediation of the Chamber of Commerce Brazil-Canada (CAM-CCBC)
- Raffaela Isepponi, Legal Counsel, Arbitration Institute of the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce (SCC)
- In conversation with Karolina Jackowicz FCIArb, Mediator and UX Designer and host for this CIArb webinar.
