With dual degree in Engineering and Law, Dr. Waly has more than 25 years of experience in Construction Contracts Administration as well as Claims preparation and assessment for projects in Egypt, and the Middle East.
Dr. Waly acted as Arbitrator, Mediator, Adjudicator, Expert or Counsel in several ad-hoc and institutional Disputes under the rules of ICC, Paris, CRCICA, Cairo, and DIFC/LCIA, Dubai.
Dr. Waly is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb), London, member of the International Court of Arbitration (Arab Arbitration Group), ICC, Paris, member of the International Council of Commercial Arbitration (ICCA), A FIDIC Interim Accredited Trainer, a FIDIC Friendly Reviewer of the FIDIC 2017 Contracts, a Certified Mediator and Trainer by CEDR, London, a Certified Expert at the Center of disputes resolution at the General Authority of Investment (GAFI), Egypt, and a Certified Arbitrator at the Ministry of Justice, Egypt, and a member of CRCICA DB committee who drafted the CRCICA DB Rules in force as of August 1st 2021.
Dr. Waly is an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Engineering, Helwan University, and Adjunct Associate Professor at the Department of Construction Engineering, the American University in Cairo (AUC), lecturing undergraduate and graduate courses and conducting research in Construction Contracts Management, Construction Claims and Disputes Resolution Methods. He has several refereed Journal and Conference papers published in Egypt, USA, Canada, United Kingdom, Singapore, India, and Turkey.
Dr. Waly holds a BSc in Engineering and an LLB from Cairo University; an MSc in Construction Management from Stevens Institute of Technology, New Jersey, USA, and a PhD in Project Management from Virginia Tech, USA, and Diploma in International Commercial Arbitration from CIArb, London.
