Described in The Legal 500 Asia Pacific as a lawyer who “could provide definitive answers with conviction on his toes”, Iwawan has an active portfolio in assisting clients deliver complex infrastructure projects across the region. He has drafted, negotiated and advised on a wide range of contracts including power purchase, EPCC and project delivery partnership. Iwawan has deep expertise in International Arbitration and is an empanelled arbitrator at the Asian International Arbitration Centre (AIAC).

Iwawan also regularly appears in the Malaysian courts. His past experience
includes representing the Securities Commission in civil proceedings concerning insider trading and market manipulation, as well as representing the Malaysian Bar Council in public interest litigation. Iwawan regularly writes and contributes to publications, including the Malaysian Civil Procedure (White Book), and is frequently invited to speak at local and international conferences. He is the founding President of the Young Society of Construction Law Malaysia and holds numerous committee appointments including AIAC’s Expert Advisory Committee for Standard Form of Contracts.

He was recently named by Thomson Reuters Asian Legal Business as Rising Star in Malaysia and shortlisted as Young Lawyer of the Year (under 40 years old) in Southeast Asia.
