Justice Roshan Dalvi (Retd.) - B. Com with Business Management and LL.M. in Commercial laws. She has been in the legal field for 45 years, 27 of them as Judge, presiding over civil trials and has been practicing as Arbitrator and Mediator in commercial, construction, family and property disputes since 2016.

She studied the Report of Lord Justice Woolf on Court and Case Management in Warwick University, Coventry, UK. which is indispensable in Arbitration and Mediation, the two ADR systems. She uses business principles applicable to law in management of cases combining the knowledge of business and commerce with the ideals of Case Management to streamline and expedite case disposal in domestic and international arbitrations.

She studied Peace and Conflict Resolution for advanced mediation in Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok and is a Rotary Peace Fellow. She combines Conflict Resolution with Client-Counselling and Neutral Evaluation for resolution of disputes in Arbitration.

She is a Fellow and Vice President (Asia) of the Commonwealth Judicial Education Institute, Halifax, Canada.

She is the author of legal articles on arbitration etc. and two books: "Tangible Justice" setting out memories of her judicial life and "Woman: Her Trials and Triumphs" setting out various Gender Perspectives in Law and Society. .

She conducts workshops for Judges and lawyers on Gender Sensitization, Arbitration, Mediation, Human Rights, Case Management, Commercial Contracts, etc.

She is a guest lecturer in the Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), Mumbai in the Masters’ program in Access to Justice.

Her judgments include interpretation of construction and commercial contracts, property litigation, family litigation, the law of evidence, a wide repertoire of socio-legal subjects including the proprietary rights of Hindu women, the constitutional validity of intestate succession of Hindu women, child rights, women’s rights, human rights of victims of crimes as also cases of economic offences involving bank frauds.
