Hi Paul. Thanks for taking the time to speak with us and a very warm welcome to CIArb Corporate Membership. We’d like to start by congratulating you, on behalf of CIArb, for becoming our first Australian Corporate Member. What prompted you to join?

Thank you we are delighted to be a member. We wish to align ourselves with an organisation that promotes similar values and services as ourselves and has a true international reach across all the sectors we work within.  We are also keen to promote CIArb across all of our regions as we truly believe in what CIArb represents.

Tell us a little bit about Accura as a firm, the service it provides and its ambitions. What makes Accura stand out among other consultancy firms?

Accura is a Claims and Dispute Management Consultancy focussing on the construction, infrastructure, resource and energy sectors.  Our staff are highly experienced quantity surveyors, construction managers and delay analysts. 

We have recently expanded into the Middle East with an office in Dubai, our ambition is to grow within the MENA region with a view of servicing current clients that operate in that region and building new relationships.

We believe in quality over volume. Our practice is driven by results rather than revenue. In turn we are highly selective when it comes to both our staff and our clients.

How do you foresee membership with Chartered Institute of Arbitrators helping with these ambitions?

Corporate membership with CIArb validates our commitment as a firm to dispute resolution and reinforces our integrity and standing as experts in our field. Your website mentions that you’ve been involved in the construction of road and rail infrastructure, can you tell us what involvement Accura have has on these types of projects from an ADR perspective?

Accura have provided commercial, contract and delay analysis support during the various stages of the project delivery and close out stages.

We provide support to head contractors, subcontractors, suppliers and project owners in resolving disputes and ensuring contractual obligations are adhered to and administered. 

Accura has prepared claims for additional cost and time matters to either avoid formal ADR procedures or in preparation for DABs, mediation, adjudication, arbitration and litigation.

We have also acted as expert witnesses in both time (delay analysis) and quantum matters.

In your opinion, what internal factors within a firm are important for providing a first-class service for your clients?

As stated earlier we believe in quality over volume and are driven by results rather than revenue.

Our culture is about earning respect and repeat business through performance and leading by example. We promote positive behaviours specifically around openness, honesty, and integrity not just internally but to our clients. 

All of our team members understand the importance of listening to our clients’ needs which builds mature relationships with individuals and ensures we understand their specific needs.
