The Diploma in International Commercial Arbitration is one of CIArb’s leading membership training programmes. The Diploma is delivered by highly-experienced and distinguished tutors and involves a combination of lectures, seminars and interactive sessions.

The Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb) is delighted to announce that Professor Dr Mohamed Abdel Wahab will be returning to direct 2022’s Virtual Diploma in International Commercial Arbitration.

CIArb will make use of its online platforms to provide candidates with all the necessary training materials and virtual classroom experience. Candidates can also take the assessments at home and submit them using CIArb’s assessment portals. The programme has been adapted for virtual delivery and the Diploma will now be held over 4 weeks.

Across the 4 weeks, the Virtual Diploma will run for 3 days a week (Friday-Sunday) from approximately 09h00 (London time) to 13h30 (London time), apart from some days when supervision takes place. There will be interactive sessions, and each week, candidates will have the opportunity to speak to the course director. Dedicated global harmonization and thematic sessions will also be delivered during the programme.

What are the entry requirements for the Diploma?

• Practicing lawyers/other professionals who are familiar with legal reasoning and concepts and are involved in arbitration (domestic or international) who wish to increase their knowledge and understanding of international commercial arbitration and/or
• Members or Fellows of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators who have experience of domestic arbitration practice and wish to extend their knowledge to include international arbitration procedures.
