Christopher Gitari is an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya, a Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and serves as Vice Chair of the Kenyan Section of International Commission of Jurists (ICJ Kenya).
Mr. Gitari has experience and training in constitutional and public law, transitional justice, legislative drafting and dispute resolution. Mr. Gitari has worked in Kenya and within the wider Eastern African region where he has provided support to state and non -state actors in the areas of constitutional law, alternative dispute resolution, transitional justice, international criminal justice, electoral law and international human rights law.
Prior to joining the Reconstituted Joint Monitoring and Evaluation Commission (RJMEC) in South Sudan as the Transitional Justice Advisor, Mr. Gitari worked as Head of Office, Kenya for the International Center Transitional Justice (ICTJ). Mr. Gitari has also worked with Kenyan Section of International Commission of Jurists (ICJ Kenya) as Program Officer, Human Rights Program. At both ICTJ and ICJ Kenya he contributed to the development of several policies as relates to enhancing access to justice.
Mr. Gitari holds a Bachelor of Laws from the School of Law, University of Nairobi, an LL.M. in International Law from the Fletcher School, a Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law, a certificate in International Legal Practice from The University of Law, (England) and a post-graduate diploma in International Mediation from Queen Mary, University of London.
