Setyawati Fitrianggraeni has amassed more than 15 years of experience in a career that spans a wide range of legal practices. Starting her legal practice as a criminal defense lawyer for high profile criminal cases; in 2010, she started her focus in maritime law at Nordisk Legal Services, a Freight Demurrage & Defence Club with headquarter in Oslo, Norway. Her experience as counsel encompasses tort proceedings on environmental issues, commercial and construction disputes in different arbitrations proceedings at SIAC, BANI, and AIAC, civil court, and contract negotiations. She has advised on a series of high-profile cases, including on a potential dispute involving the Sri Lankan Navy.
 
Fitri has been a legal advisor to the Cooperative of the Indonesian National Police Cooperative (INKOPPOL) and has shared her legal expertise through various publications, including “It’s Just Smoke. Good Neighbors Making Bad law. A Commentary on the Haze Situation between Indonesia, Malaysia, and Singapore” (Proceeding, 2020), “Building Business, Enriching Lives: Empowering Women in Fishing Communities of Tegal and Wonogiri, Central Java, Indonesia” (Journal of Maritime Affairs, 2019), and “Dispute on Green Infrastructure Mega Project: Managing The Risk On Preserving The Earth” (The Spirit of Law Journal, 2019).
 
She was listed as a Southeast Asian Women 2020 by Young Southeast Asia Leader’s Initiative (YSEALI) Women’s Leadership Academy Alumni Network and Hukumonline’s NexGen Lawyers in 2019. Fitri is also an Assistant Professor for the Private Law Department and the Managing Editor of The Lex Patrimonium and the Secretary of the Private Law Department at her alma mater the University of Indonesia.
 
A graduate of the University of Indonesia, she obtained her Master of Law with merit in Maritime Law from the University College London. She is currently a PhD candidate in Maritime Law and Policy at the World Maritime University, under the auspices of the IMO United Nation.
