Armand Terrien is an independent international arbitration specialist, and current ICC YAF Representative for France.

His practice focuses primarily on commercial and investment arbitration. Armand has worked as counsel and secretary of the tribunal in ICC, LCIA, ICSID, CMAP and ad hoc arbitrations and mediations relating to oil & gas, M&A, joint ventures, banking, taxation, and construction.

From 2013 to 2020, Armand was a senior associate with Quinn Emanuel. Prior to joining Quinn Emanuel, Armand was an associate in the M&A, securities, and project finance practice of a major American law firm in Paris.

From 2011 to 2013, he taught an undergraduate seminar in private international law at Sciences Po Paris, and since 2014, he has taught a graduate seminar in investment arbitration at HEAD law school in Paris. He also teaches an investment arbitration seminar at MACI (Université Paris-Saclay) focusing on pre-arbitration strategy. While in law school, Armand was an articles editor for the Columbia Journal of European Law, and served as a courtroom advocate in Bronx family courts.

He is a member of the pool of arbitrators of various arbitral institutions is a Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (MCIArb), and a member of Young ITA, CFA40, ASA below 40, ICDR Y&I, HK45, and Young ICCA.

He has published extensively on the topic of international arbitration, including in the Paris Journal of International Arbitration, the ICC Dispute Resolution Bulletin, and the Kluwer Arbitration Blog. He is a regular contributor to Practical Law Arbitration.
