Shaunak practices as an independent Arbitrator and Mediator in Mumbai. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (United Kingdom), the Malaysian Institute of Arbitrators (MIArb) and the Indian Council of Arbitrators.

He is a member of the ICC Commission on Arbitration and ADR (Paris).

He is also accredited by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, New Delhi.

Arbitration: Shaunak has had numerous appointments as co-arbitrator, sole arbitrator and chairman of three-man panels.

He serves on numerous institutional panels including:

• The BAS Panel by Dispute Appointment Service (DAS) of CIArb.
• The Indian Council of Arbitrators, New Delhi,
• The Cotton Association of India, Mumbai,
• The Clothing Manufacturers Association of India
• Panel of the High Court at Bombay, Mumbai

Mediation: Shaunak is empaneled as a Mediator with SAMA (an online ADR Institution).

Law Practice:
Shaunak has over 35 years of experience in litigation & arbitration, practicing as a Counsel at the Bombay High Court and the Supreme Court of India. He is a practicing litigation Counsel practice with his chambers in Mumbai. He is also qualified as a solicitor.

Shaunak has been involved in numerous high stake litigations in the Bombay High Court, the Supreme Court of India, various specialised Courts & Arbitral Tribunals in a wide range of areas involving commercial laws, commercial frauds, corporate transaction disputes (arising from joint ventures, shareholders agreements, acquisitions and divestitures), large project construction disputes, shipping & insurance laws.

His clients include banks, mutual funds, energy generation & distribution companies, construction companies, foreign multinational companies and Government companies.

Shaunak has been a speaker at several seminars on arbitration topics held in India and abroad including at the 1st ICC India Seminar on Arbitration and as guest lecturer on alternate dispute resolution at the Government Law College (Mumbai) and the National Law School (Calcutta).
