Daniel Marugg is a trial lawyer. He is a specialist in the conducting of complex domestic and international proceedings before state courts as well as arbitral tribunals. In addition, he is a frequently appointed arbitrator. Daniel Marugg is also an expert regarding matters of international private and procedural law and advises and represents select clients in white collar crime matters.

Daniel Marugg founded Marugg Dispute Resolution in Zurich on June 1, 2016. He is independent and free of conflict in his activities in litigation, arbitration and commercial mediation. Due to his long standing professional experience, Daniel Marugg is, however, as far as and where necessary, well connected.

For roughly 20 years, from 1998 until May 2016, Daniel Marugg was a partner and Head of Litigation and Arbitration at various internationally active commercial law firms in Zurich. He began his career as an attorney-at-law at his own law firm in Berne after passing the Bar in 1991. After attaining his LL.M. in Amsterdam, he continued practicing law in a commercial law firm focused on litigation in Zurich.

Daniel Marugg graduated from the University of Berne in 1991 where he studied law. Between 1994 and 1995 he completed his Master's Degree (LL.M.) in competition- and international commercial law at the University of Amsterdam, The Netherlands. In 1995, he completed the Leyden-Amsterdam-Columbia Summer Program in American Law of the Universities of Amsterdam and Columbia/New York. In 2016, Daniel Marugg was accredited as a Commercial Mediator CEDR by the Centre for Effective Dispute Resolution, London, and in 2018 certified as Mediator SAV by the Swiss Bar Association. Daniel Marugg was appointed to act as an arbitrator of the Shanghai International Arbitration Centre (SHIAC) in 2018. Since 2020, he is on the Panel of Arbitrators of the Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre (HKIAC) and a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, London (FCIArb).
