Khawaja Hamid Mushtaq is working as a Director, Dispute Resolution Cell, in National Highway Authority, (NHA) Pakistan, leading the Contract Administration and Dispute Resolution Cell.

Hamid is a professional Civil Engineer and holds a Masters of Construction Law degree from Melbourne Law School, University of Melbourne. He also completed a CIArb’s Post Graduation Diploma in International Commercial Arbitration held at Jesus College, Oxford and has been admitted as a Fellow of Chartered Institute of Arbitrators. He holds a professional certification (PMP) from Project Management Institute (PMI) USA. In the past, Hamid sat on the International Financial Institutions committee (IFI) of FIDIC in 2020 and has also co-authored a book titled, The International Application of FIDIC Contracts- A practical guide covering Pakistan’s jurisdiction. He article on FIDIC contracts with respect to Pakistani jurisdiction was published in the Construction Law International journal, Q & A series of FIDIC around the world.

His 19 years of experience has been mainly on mega construction projects in Hydropower, Highways, Buildings and Railway Infrastructure sectors where he has provided specialist advice in relation to pre and post-contract matters, amicable settlement of disputes, claims and international Arbitration matters. He has been part of the negotiation team which concluded 02 mega Public Private Partnership contracts. Hamid has extensive experience of working on FIDIC, NEC, JCT, AS 2124 and bespoke forms.

He has acted as Chairman, Dispute Adjudication Board (DAB) on an ADB funded infrastructure project and appeared in multiple commercial arbitrations. He is currently working on an investment arbitration as well.
He regularly conducts specialized trainings in Contract Administration, Claims & Arbitration at NUST Islamabad and has recently taught a specialized course in Claims & Disputes in NED Karachi’s PGD program.
