CIArb (Chartered Institute of Arbitrators) has signed an agreement with DMCC (Dubai Multi Commodities Centre) – the world’s flagship Free Zone and Government of Dubai Authority on commodities trade and enterprise – to collaborate on future initiatives, and to host its first office in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. The office will be located in Almas Tower, the centerpiece of the thriving JLT (Jumeirah Lakes Towers) district that sits in the heart of Dubai, UAE. The opening of the MENA office is part of CIArb’s ongoing expansion plan and also taps into the continuous innovation that the region has to offer.
Anthony Abrahams CIArb Director General, said, "DMCC is a great partner to work with. We have already carried out training programmes with DMCC in conjunction with our UAE Branch. DMCC is a natural collaborator for establishing our second regional office following the opening of CIArb Regional Asia-Pacific (APAC) office in 2015. The creation of three new regional hubs is now in progress and we anticipate Middle East North Africa (MENA), Americas and Europe will all be launched in 2020. Joining forces with leading regional businesses will accelerate our mission to connect with the world’s mercantile community and ADR professionals. This will create training opportunities for the commercial world and every member of our global Institute."
Leonora Riesenburg FCIArb, CIArb UAE Branch Chair, commented, "It is ever more exciting to be an adr professional and CIArb representative in the MENA region. The geographical positioning of the MENA office is testament to the excellent work of the UAE Branch, and will help anchor strategic partnerships and relationships in the marketplace. Benefiting from a great cooperation with DMCC, DMCC provides a useful gateway to global trade and is the ideal platform for the CIArb to grow its presence in Dubai, across the UAE and MENA region. This is a very welcome development, and I could not be more pleased. I have no doubt that the MENA office will be of tremendous value, serve to further promote adr in the region and fulfill the charitable objectives of the CIArb."
“Dispute resolution is fast-growing in the UAE and we are thrilled to be welcoming a leading institution in this field to our business district. The opening of the CIArb MENA office within DMCC is testament to our position as a trusted partner that offers an ecosystem for businesses to thrive. We look forward to supporting CIArb’s growth within our community of over 16,000 member companies.” said Ahmad Hamza, Executive Director – Free Zone, DMCC.
