Dr Anthony Kakooza

Dr. Anthony C.K. Kakooza is the Deputy Chairperson of the Leadership Code Tribunal. He is a world renown Intellectual Property expert, serving through the law firm of Byenkya, Kihika & Co. Advocates, in charge of the firm’s Intellectual Property practice. He also previously served as Head of the Commercial Law Department at the School of Law, Makerere University, Kampala, where he taught Intellectual Property Law and Cyber Law. He is a Visiting Professor of Intellectual Property Law at the University of Illinois in the U.S and has held Visiting Professor of Intellectual Property law positions at Shandong University in China, Cornell Law School in the U.S and Masaryk University in the Czech Republic.
Dr. Kakooza was previously Chair of the Intellectual Property Cluster of the Uganda Law Society from 2020 to 2025. He is an IP Consultant with Uganda Registration Services Bureau, Africa Regional Intellectual Property Organization and the World Intellectual Property Organization, of which he is also an accredited Arbitrator. He is also a Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators – Uganda Chapter.
