Dr Petra Rihar FCIArb

Dr. Petra Rihar has over 20 years of experience in complex two-party and multi-party arbitrations in both civil and common law systems. She has acted as an arbitrator, counsel and legal expert in numerous institutional and ad hoc arbitrations, under various procedural rules and governing laws. She has expertise in disputes relating to shareholders’ agreements, mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and consortia, disputes arising from FIDIC and other standard form contracts, as well as disputes arising from international service, sales, licensing, agency, distribution and transport contracts. She has worked across a wide range of industries, including financial services, telecommunications infrastructure, construction (related, among others, to oil refineries, sewage treatment plants and transit projects), technology and know-how transfer, the aviation industry, natural resources, the defence industry, mechanical engineering, agriculture and the hospitality sector. She is experienced in disputes involving states and state-owned entities.
Petra has authored and co-authored various articles on arbitration topics published in the ICC Dispute Resolution Bulletin, the Austrian Yearbook on International Arbitration, the Kluwer Arbitration Blog, LexisNexis and Practical Law Arbitration. She is a regular speaker at arbitration conferences.
Prior to founding her own law practice in 2013, Petra gained professional experience at leading international law firms in Zurich (Wenger Vieli, Schellenberg Wittmer) and London (WilmerHale). She holds an LL.M. from Columbia Law School (2006), a PhD (Dr. iur.) from the University of Lucerne (2006) and a law degree from the University of Zurich (2000). She has been admitted to practice before all Swiss courts since 2004.
Petra’s working languages are German, English, Slovenian, Croatian and Serbian. She has a basic knowledge of Italian and French.
