Engr. Saad Shahid is a Contracts and Claims Engineer at China State Construction (CSCEC) Pakistan, holding MCIArb membership and PEC registration, with three years of experience in FIDIC contract administration, construction claims, and dispute resolution.
His arbitration experience includes tribunal-side participation in three live domestic arbitration proceedings and one Umpire award under the supervision of a senior MCIArb arbitrator, contributing to factual summaries, procedural histories, analysis of party submissions, and drafting of non-operative sections of arbitration awards. He has additionally drafted full arbitration pleadings, including a Statement of Claim and Rejoinder, on a PKR 220mn EOT and prolongation dispute that proceeded to domestic arbitration and resulted in a pre-hearing settlement.
His technical grounding spans EOT and prolongation claims preparation, FIDIC Sub-Clause 20 notice management, variation administration, and procurement law, including preparation and defence of a formal PPRA Rule 48 procurement grievance before the PPRA Authority. He has worked across FIDIC Red Book (2017/22, 1999, 1987) and Pink Book 2010 contracts on MDB-funded infrastructure projects in Pakistan.
He is currently completing an MS at NUST researching Pakistan's transition from the Arbitration Act 1940 to a UNCITRAL Model Law-based framework, with a focus on its implications for construction dispute resolution practice, work that is intended for peer-reviewed publication.
He is actively developing his arbitration practice with a view toward Fellowship of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and appointment as arbitrator in construction disputes.
