Mr John Paul Matioli ACiarb

John Paul Mugala, ACIArb, is a arbitration practitioner with interests in international commercial arbitration, public and private international law, and cross-border capital markets.

He is an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and a graduate of the American University Washington College of Law Diploma in International Arbitration, which examined the legal and procedural frameworks governing arbitration under the principal institutional and ad hoc rules, including those of the ICC, UNCITRAL and ICSID. He is presently an LL.B candidate at Strathmore University, where his studies include alternative dispute resolution, public international law, the law of evidence and financial services law.

He joined the State Department for Foreign Affairs of the Government of Kenya as a Legal Intern, serving across the Office of Strategic Partnerships and Donor Relations and the Office of the Principal Secretary, and subsequently continued at the State Department as a Consultant. His work there centred on the Africa Forward Summit 2026, in the course of which he speerheaded the
development of Nova Garage, an innovation initiative convened with several multilateral and institutional partners and launched on the margins of the Summit in Nairobi.

He is also Founding Architect of the Autonomous Advancement Initiative and Co-Founder of EDU AI Research.
