Personal bio
Having practiced law since 2000, Dr. Martins began his career at RUI CUNHA Advogados in Lisbon. He later joined C&C Advogados as a senior associate, contributing to a firm with a presence in Macau, Lisbon, East Timor, and Cabo Verde, focusing on high-profile litigation. His expertise includes advising casino operators, technology providers, and gaming investors on commercial, regulatory matters, corporate finance, and IPOs. From 2011 to 2016, Dr. Martins held the position of Company Secretary at ING Life Insurance Company (Macau) Limited, where he ensured regulatory compliance and policy development. He transitioned to SJM, initially as Senior Legal Counsel & Department Head from 2017 to 2021, before being appointed as General Counsel & Vice Secretary in 2022.
Dr. Martins completed his law degree at Universidade Lusiada Law School, Portugal, in 2000. He further specialized in Arbitration at the Macau Government Legal and Judicial Training Center. His professional affiliations include being a Registered Arbitrator at the Macau Lawyer’s Association Arbitration Center.
