Prof. Dr. Islambek Rustambekov – Brief information
Rector and Professor of Private International Law and Cyber Law Departments at Tashkent State University of Law, Tashkent, Uzbekistan. He studies, researches, and writes about the ADR, in particular arbitration and mediation in the Republic of Uzbekistan, CA and CIS countries.
An arbitrator and mediator, Prof. Dr. Islambek Rustambekov is a member of the International Supervisory Board of the Arbitration Center of the Islamic Cooperation Organization, a member of the board of the Russian Arbitration Center (Russian Federation), first Uzbek citizen who was listed as an arbitrator at the International Center for Settlement of Investment Disputes (USA). He is also arbitrator at the Hong Kong International Arbitration center (Hong Kong), Asian International Arbitration Center (Malaysia), arbitrator and mediator at the WIPO Arbitration and Mediation Center (Switzerland), Energy Disputes Arbitration Center (Turkey), Chongqing Arbitration Commission (China), Tashkent International Arbitration Center (TIAC) and Tashkent Mediation Center (TMC).
He is currently the chair of the TSUL Legal Report and Review of Law Sciences journals (Uzbekistan), and the member of editorial board of the following scientific journals: Uzbek Law Review, Jurisprudence (Uzbekistan), Revista Brasileira de Alternative Dispute Resolution (Brasil), Ticaret ve Fikri Mülkiyet Hukuku Dergisi (Turkey), The Asian Yearbook of International Economic Law (Springer Nature Switzerland), Beijing Law Review (China), International Journal of Criminology and Criminal Law (USA).
He is also the member of International Association of University Presidents (IAUP), member of CIArb, Member of the International Council for Commercial Arbitration (ICCA), Commonwealth Lawyers Association (CLA), Rising Arbitrators Initiative (RIA), ThoughtLeaders4 Community and Delegate in Uzbekistan of the International association of Police Mediation & Community Policing International.
Prof. Rustambekov acted as sole and co-arbitrator in more than 20 arbitration cases, represented Uzbekistan in five investment cases in ICSID and Ad-hoc arbitration, and in two ICC cases.
Prof. Rustambekov is the author of more than 200 scientific articles by October 2024, more than 40 of them are published in international scientific journals, more than 30 in mass media and e-media. He is the author of 4 monographs, 3 textbooks and 5 manuals in sole authorship, 8 monographs and 4 textbooks in co-authorship. Under his supervision were defended 11 PhD dissertations and 3 DSc dissertations.
