Personal bio

I commenced my legal career in 2000, initially serving as a Trial Lawyer in both civil and criminal matters. Over the years, I have developed deep expertise in contract law and dispute resolution, holding roles as both a practitioner and an educationist.

My ADR experience encompasses negotiation, mediation, expert determination, and arbitration, with a focus on complex disputes in the energy sector (including power, oil, gas, minerals, and liquefied gas), as well as construction, procurement, and commercial sectors. I have represented clients in proceedings under LCIA and ICC Rules, and have been actively involved in the recognition and enforcement of arbitral awards

In the energy sector, I have advised and represented both public and private entities engaged in exploration, marketing, generation, transmission, and distribution within the power, oil, and gas industries. The disputes I handled ranged from Technical issues such as cycling and low-load operations; Financial matters, including tariff disputes, delayed payments, and interest claims; and Legal questions involving statutory interpretation and regulatory compliance.

In the Construction Sector, have represented stakeholders in both commercial and technical disputes, including Extension of time claims, Quantum and reciprocal damages, Quota enforcement and price escalation, Contract termination, and award enforcement. Many of these matters involved contracts based on FIDIC conditions, requiring a nuanced understanding of both engineering and legal frameworks.

I have provided legal support in disputes involving foreign lenders, sovereign guarantees, and cross-border investments, particularly with clients from Germany and the United States. My work spans both pre- and post-dispute stages, including procurement, payment obligations, and banking instruments.

I have served organisations such as WASA and PITC in labor and service-related disputes. Additionally, I had been a member of the Joint Works Council WASA (MDA) Multan, which focuses on mediation and dispute settlement in basic work matters.
On a local level, I have also been involved in various other types of disputes, including taxation issues and representation before cooperative societies, as well as in family disputes. Moreover, I represented in several issues related to the arbitrations and ADR.

I have also been appointed as an "Arbitrator" by the Court in a dispute involving a Pakistani Contractor, a local telecommunication service provider, and a renowned foreign mobile company.

Additionally, I have been appointed as an Arbitrator by various parties in different disputes, including those related to commercial matters involving the shipment of oil from another country.

I am teaching International Law, Contract, and Dispute Management at different forums and am involved in providing the Bar Vocational Course to new lawyers and rendering lectures for professional lawyers.

Recently, I have started a facilitation centre at Lahore (Pakistan) for the ADR services, named as MARKAZ-e-ADR Private Limited.
