Personal bio
I am a barrister of the New South Wales Bar, called in February 2003. My practice spans commercial litigation, maritime, construction, family law, probate and criminal matters, with a growing focus on international commercial arbitration and mediation.
Arbitration and Mediation
I hold a Diploma of International Commercial Arbitration and completed the CIArb Fellows Arbitration course in Singapore in 2025. I am appointed as an arbitrator by the NSW Local Court and accept appointments as an independent arbitrator and mediator in commercial, maritime, construction and family property disputes.
Sector Experience
Before practising law, I worked in the maritime industry with Adelaide Steamship Company, Stannard Brothers, Hegarty’s Ferries and Sydney Ferries, in harbour operations, chartering and ferry services on Port Jackson. I also worked as a paralegal in maritime disputes and as an industrial and legal officer in construction and mining, appearing before the Australian Industrial Relations Commission in matters involving BHP, glass manufacturing, iron ore, general construction and sugar cane. That industry grounding informs my approach to disputes in those sectors.
Earlier Practice
Before the Bar, I spent six years as a solicitor at the Aboriginal Legal Service NSW. I read with The Honourable Stephen Rothman SC (retired Justice of the NSW Supreme Court) in industrial and commercial law, and with The Honourable Stephen Norrish KC (retired Judge of the NSW District Court and retired Acting Justice of the ACT Supreme Court) in criminal trials and appeals.
Qualifications
BA, LLB (University of Sydney, 1996), awarded the Sir Alexander Beattie Prize in Industrial Relations. Diploma of International Commercial Arbitration. CIArb Fellows Arbitration course, Singapore (2025).
