Personal bio
Atty. Valenton earned his Bachelor of Laws and Master of Laws Degree in San Beda University. He ranked 16th in the 2001 Bar Exams.
His thesis for his masters was on Mining and Environment. He was later tapped as a legal expert by the Mining Industry Coordinating Council for the review of mining operations in the Philippines in accordance with Executive Order No. 79. He finished in 2021 an Environmental Law Program.
Atty. Valenton went to Harvard University School of Law for the Executive Education Program on Mergers and Acquisitions. He likewise went to Boston University School of Law for the Summer Legal Institute Program on U.S. Corporate Law and International Business Agreements. He still further completed a course on Trust Operations, Banking and Investment Management and a program on Competition Law.
He has been in the active practice of law for more or less 25 years, mainly in the fields of dispute resolution, appeals, property, mining, family, criminal, investments and corporate laws. As a litigator, he has successfully handled high-profile cases and as well those where the Supreme Court has eventually set precedents.
He was the Dean of the University of Makati School of Law from 2023 to November 2025. He currently teaches at various law schools in the Philippines. One recognized Atty. Valenton as the Best Faculty Member in 2022, while his alma mater awarded him in 2025 the “Distinguished Bedan Award In Education”.
He authored the law book, “Personal Property Security Act and the Relevant Laws and Jurisprudence on Credit, Property, Insolvency, and Procedure”, as well as the article, “The Philippines: Towards Inclusive And Sustainable Growth” published in the International Financial Law Review Magazine, United Kingdom.
He regularly conducts lectures to lawyers under the Mandatory Continuing Legal Education.
