Personal bio

I qualified as a solicitor in 1994 and have specialised in family law as a solicitor and mediator since 1997. In 2008 I established Beckett Solicitors, a specialist family law firm in Kent and London.

Having a passion for non court dispute resolution I was delighted to qualify as a family law arbitrator in 2013, under the Institute of Family Law Arbitrators (IFLA) Financial Scheme and in 2016 I went on to qualify as an arbitrator under IFLA's Children Scheme. This means that I am qualified to arbitrate disputes concerning money and children. I have a wealth of experience in helping couples to resolve financial disputes concerning:

1. Matrimonial finance.
2. Cohabitation and joint property disputes (TLATA).
3. Finances for children.
4. Disputed will and estate claims.

And disputes concerning their children such as:
1. Where and with whom children shall live.
2. The time spent with each parent.
3. Arrangements concerning the children’s upbringing.
4. Relocation of children within England and Wales and Hague Convention Countries.

As a trusted expert in family law I am committed to resolving family legal issues and disputes with professionalism and care. My services include family arbitration and mediation, neutral evaluation, and family law. My services are tailored to suit my client's individual circumstances to resolve disputes efficiently, effectively and compassionately. I can help couples resolve disputes ranging from complex issues to a single issue. This could simply involve helping a couple (perhaps in mediation) to resolve a sticking point which is stopping them from reaching an agreement.

I Chair the Forum of Family Law Arbitrators and am the Co-Chair of the IFLA Executive Committee which advises the IFLA Board. As a member of the committee, I have assisted in drafting the IFLA forms and Guides, the President’s Guidance for the Financial and Children Arbitration Schemes and the IFLA Rules. I have provided training and given presentations to the College of Judges and other legal professionals on family arbitration and my advice on the Family Arbitration Scheme is frequently sought by other professionals. I have also contributed to various guides on arbitration and wrote the IFLA Guide to Family Arbitration for family law mediators.

I am a member of the Worshipful Company of Arbitrators.
