Adam Wahlquist is a dispute resolution practitioner with 19 years of legal experience in litigation and arbitration. He maintains an active litigation practice in Utah and California while building a growing arbitration practice as both counsel and arbitrator. Mr. Wahlquist has been appointed as arbitrator in multiple consumer, securities, and commercial disputes. He is a member of the AAA-ICDR, FINRA, and Dubai International Arbitration Centre panels.
As arbitration counsel, Mr. Wahlquist has represented clients before leading institutions including the AAA-ICDR, ICC, SIAC, VIAC, and JAMS, as well as in ad hoc proceedings. His experience spans disputes ranging from $25,000 to $44 million across diverse industries and formats, including large multiparty matters, emergency relief arbitrations, and fully virtual proceedings. Recent international matters include a $44 million IP dispute before VIAC, an ICC construction arbitration seated in Ghana, and a multi-party SIAC arbitration seated in Singapore involving cross-border commercial contract claims.
Mr. Wahlquist is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (FCIArb) and holds a Master's in International Dispute Settlement from the University of Geneva/IHEID. He serves as adjunct professor of international arbitration at BYU Law School, where he lectures on international commercial and supports the university's International Commercial Arbitration Academies in Singapore and Geneva. He has completed the ICC Advanced Arbitration Academy for North America and holds FIAA certification in cross-examination.
Mr. Wahlquist speaks English and French and has lived abroad in Geneva, Switzerland and Abidjan, Ivory Coast. He has represented clients in international matters involving parties from Australia, Austria, Bermuda, Canada, China, France, Japan, Mexico, Singapore, Slovakia, the UK, and Vietnam. Prior to joining Kirton McConkie as a shareholder, he practiced business litigation in California and served as a federal judicial law clerk in the District of Arizona.
