Personal bio

Sir Philip practised as a barrister at 1 Hare Court (previously 1 Mitre Court Buildings) for 28 years, of which he was a QC (now KC) for ten years. In 2011, he was appointed a High Court Judge and assigned to the Family Division. He heard many of the most high profile financial remedy cases, including Young v Young; Rotenberg; Standish and HRH Princess Haya of Jordan v Sheikh Mohammed. He also dealt with many cases involving nuptial agreements and a significant number of the most high profile cases under Part III of the 1984 Act. He retired as a judge in 2024 and returned to 1 Hare Court, initially to conduct Private FDRs and now arbitrations.
