Gavamukulya Charles is a civil engineer, construction contracts and claims specialist and dispute resolution practitioner.
Charles holds a Master of Science in Construction Law and Dispute Resolution from Leeds Beckett University, UK and a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Makerere University, Uganda. He is also completing a Master of Science in Civil Engineering at Makerere University, specializing in structural engineering, where his research examines the seismic vulnerability assessment of existing buildings.
Charles is a Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (MCIArb) and is a Certified Professional Mediator, Adjudicator and Arbitrator. Charles also serves as the Chairperson of the Young Members Committee of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators -Uganda Chapter.
Professionally, Charles is the Executive Director of CG Engineering Consults, a reputable firm specializing in construction contracts and claims, construction law and dispute resolution plus engineering design. Additionally, he serves as a Consultant Project Administrator at NLS Waste Power Plant where he applies his expertise in project oversight and dispute avoidance.
Charles advises on all aspects of construction projects from initial procurement to where necessary dispute avoidance and resolution demonstrating proficiency in major standard forms of contract, including FIDIC, JCT and PPDA. He has also contributed to academic discourse in construction law through 7 publications in peer-reviewed journals, including the European Journal of Applied Science, Engineering and Technology and the Journal of Conflict Management and Sustainable Development.
