Tina Banda is a highly accomplished Arbitrator, Mediator, and Adjudicator with extensive experience in resolving complex commercial disputes across Africa’s mining, construction, employment, international business and with vast knowledge in the water and energy sectors. A Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (UK and Zambia), Tina brings over 18 years of multi-sectoral leadership in water and energy sectors.
With a solid legal and business foundation holding an LLM in Corporate and Commercial Law, dual MBAs in International Business, Retail Management and General Management, and another master’s in project planning & management. Tina’s expertise is both broad and deeply rooted in practical application. Her ADR practice covers commercial arbitration, employment mediation, community-based negotiations, Ethnic or Cultural Conflict Mediation, adjudication of procurement and construction disputes, and cross-border IP and trade disagreements. She has successfully managed over 500 sales and payment negotiations both domestic & international negotiations, facilitated community conflict resolutions.
Tina Banda is a Court-Annexed Mediator accredited to handle commercial disputes before the High Court of Zambia. She actively advocates for the use of Mediation in resolving political and public sector disputes. With a strong belief in dialogue and consensus-building, Tina promotes Mediation as a practical and dignified alternative to litigation, especially in complex and high-stakes environments.
My professional journey has been strongly shaped by my work in the water and energy sector, where i have led project implementation, distributor engagements, international procurement disputes, and contract enforcement. My understanding of sector dynamics adds depth to my ability to mediate and arbitrate disputes with technical precision.
In addition, Tina is a forward-looking leader in the AI and digital space, holding a Postgraduate Certificate in Digital Marketing and AI, leading advocacy for technology integration in business operations.
She is also a champion of governance and ethical leadership, serving on multiple board committees including the Institute of Directors Zambia committee on membership & publicity and the Zambia Institute of Arbitrators committee. As Executive Director of Real-Life Matters Zambia, Tina furthers inclusive dialogue and community empowerment. Her public-sector exposure includes World Bank training in procurement and contract management, further complementing her work in both public and private institutional arbitration.
