Barrister specialising in commercial litigation, international arbitration, and cross-border disputes.
Eugene has over 20 years’ experience in commercial disputes and is regularly instructed to advise and appear in matters involving commercial litigation and arbitration, contractual and transactional disputes, corporate insolvency and restructuring, shareholder disputes, bankruptcy, and probate disputes.
Eugene trained and then practised as a solicitor with Baker & McKenzie in its Dispute Resolution Group from 2000 to 2007 and was admitted as a solicitor in New South Wales (Australia), Hong Kong, and England & Wales. He was called to the Hong Kong Bar in 2008.
In addition to his counsel work in court and in arbitrations, Eugene accepts appointments as an independent arbitrator. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (FCIArb) and has completed its Applied Arbitration for Fellows programme. Eugene is on the Panel of Arbitrators of the Beijing Arbitration Commission / Beijing International Arbitration Court (BAC/BIAC) and the Chinese Arbitration Association, Taipei (CAA), and is listed on the databases of arbitrators for the London Court of International Arbitration (LCIA) and the Hong Kong Bar Association.
Recognised by The Legal 500 (Hong Kong Bar – Commercial Disputes) for six consecutive years, Eugene is described as an “outstanding barrister” who provides “comprehensive and strategic advice” and is “skilled in advocacy”.
