Kevin Potts is the founder and director of Axyom Limited. He practices as a civil and commercial mediator and specialises in the resolution of construction and engineering disputes. Kevin is accredited by the RICS, is registered by the Civil Mediation Council and is a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitration. He practices privately and within the Royal Courts of Justice.
Kevin believes the key advantage of mediation is its flexibility and efficiency. Unlike court or arbitration proceedings, mediations are often completed within a single day, substantially reducing legal costs and associated expenses. This is particularly beneficial in commercial disputes, where delays in resolving issues can have a significant impact on ongoing projects and relationships between the parties, and where maintaining relationships is especially important to parties that need to continue working together on current or future projects.
Unlike a court judgment or arbitral award, which is typically limited to monetary compensation, mediation enables the parties to agree win-win outcomes, with creative solutions tailored to their specific needs.
