Personal bio
Agustín is a Partner at the boutique firm SCL - Solución de Conflictos Legales in Mexico City. He acts as counsel and consultant in Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR), litigation and complex disputes in international law, energy (electricity, gas, oil and mining), maritime and offshore industry, insurance and reinsurance, construction and infrastructure, investment, trade, purchase and sale of goods and aviation. He acts as arbitrator and mediator in cases administered by CANACO and CAM, and was certified as a private mediator by the Mexico City Superior Court of Justice.
Prior, he was a senior associate at Garza Tello - Clyde & Co handling domestic and international commercial arbitration and investor-state disputes under ICC, ICSID, ICDR, LMAA, CAM, CANACO, UNCITRAL and ad hoc rules, as well as complex litigation cases (2021-2025). He also served as in-house counsel representing the Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) in international arbitrations administered by the LCIA, ICC and IACAC (2019-2021). Previously, he worked at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Mexican Senate and other law firms in Mexico City.
He holds a law degree from Universidad La Salle, A.C. and a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Comparative and International Dispute Resolution from Queen Mary University of London. He has also completed the Diplomas in International Commercial Arbitration and Private Mediation at Escuela Libre de Derecho (ELD).
He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (FCIArb) and a member of the National Association of Corporate Lawyers (Asociación Nacional de Abogados de Empresa, Colegio de Abogados, A.C. - ANADE), where he has served as Vice Coordinator (2019-2020 & 2025-2026) and Academic Coordinator (2021-2022) of the ADR Committee.
He is a member of the Faculty of Law of Universidad Anáhuac, where he has taught Public International Law. He has also lectured at the National Centre for Higher Naval Studies (CESNAV); Tecnológico de Monterrey, Campus Santa Fe; UNITEC, Campus Sur; CANACO; and the Fundación Escuela Nacional de Jurisprudencia. He has acted as coordinator of case studies in the Diploma in International Commercial Arbitration organized by ICC Mexico and ELD.
