With the help of his finance and corporate background, Mr. İçtem’s practice evolved into working in complex commercial litigation and arbitration cases and he is leading the firms’ international commercial dispute resolution practice. He collaborates with many international law firms in the role of local counsel working jointly on international arbitration and litigation cases relating to commercial and white collar crime related claims. Given his experience in banking he is often called to represent banks and governmental institutions in bank claims and fraud related cases. He represented Turkish public debt collection agency (TMSF) in front of UK courts jointly with former Attorney General for England and Wales QC Geoffrey Cox and similarly the Romanian Authority for State Assets Recovery (AVAS) in debt recovery cases in Turkey. His current work includes representing Google Ireland in Turkey against Russian State Authority claims.
Mr Ictem is also known for representing clients in partnership and shareholder disputes with a specific focus on claims on minority shareholder oppression, exit rights and breach of shareholders and stock purchase agreements. He represented his client before SIAC in one of the very first third party funded arbitration case in Singapore. Other major area of his expertise is with respect to enforcement of foreign court and arbitration awards in Turkey.
He is also a founding member of the Istanbul Arbitration Association (ISTA) and acts as an active arbitrator with ISTAC.
