Personal bio
Dr. Kishor Shankar Dere is a lawyer based in India, a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (FCIArb) London, and an International Mediation Institute (IMI -The Hague)-, as well as Civil Mediation Council (CMC, UK)-qualified mediator. He has delivered guest lectures and presented research papers at national and international academic and research institutions along with think-tanks. He also has various publications to his credit. He has obtained three doctorates viz. in (1) International Relations, (2) Philosophy, and (3) Law. He served as a rapporteur for (1) the World Social Forum meeting in 2004, (2) Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs Business and Human Rights meeting in 2019, (3) International Labour Organisation (ILO) office in India in August 2024, and (4) the ‘41st Steering Committee of International Partnership for Hydrogen and Fuel Cells on Deployment of Green Hydrogen and Its Derivatives’ held at New Delhi in March 2024. He did intellectual property rights (IPR) courses from the Geneva-based World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO). He completed a Climate Law and Governance Specialisation Course from the University of Cambridge. He was selected for Harvard Mediation Intensive programme held in 2024. He presented a research paper at the University of Oxford’s Fifth Animal Ethics Summer School in July 2018. He is a visiting faculty at various academic institutions. He serves as a judge and/or arbitrator in prestigious international moot court competitions such as Jessup, Vis Moot, Foreign Investment Moot, FDI Moot, international environmental law moot, IPR law moot, and international maritime law moot courts. His areas of interest include human rights, citizenship, sustainable development and alternative dispute resolution.
On a pro bono publico basis, he serves as an online academic reviewer for (1) Asian Social Science, (2) International Law Research and (3) Journal of Politics and Law – all three journals brought out by Canadian Centre of Science and Education, Toronto.
