He is a Transformative Engineer, Institutional Leader and Innovation Advocate. Eng. Papias Dedeki Kazawadi is the visionary founder and driving force behind both TASKS AFRICA CBC and the HAIRSTEIC Pathway. With over two decades of distinguished leadership spanning engineering practice, institutional governance, and continental policy advocacy, he is uniquely positioned to bridge the gap between technical excellence and transformative societal impact.
Professional Journey and Leadership Roles
His career embodies the HAIRSTEIC principles he champions as:
- Co-Chair of Africa, Americas, Asia and Pacific (A3P) Accord for Engineering Education and Practice which is a FAEO, UPADI and FEIAP collaborative initiative to promote capacity and mobility of engineering professionals within the Global South at national and regional and continental levels.
- Immediate Past President, Federation of African Engineering Organizations (FAEO): Provided strategic leadership for engineering bodies across the African continent, advocating for Institutional Collaboration, Harmonized Standards and Capacity Development among others.
- Immediate Past President, Institute of Engineering Rwanda (IER): Spearheaded the modernization of Rwanda's Engineering Profession, International Collaboration, Strengthening Ethical codes by introducing mandatory oath taking in the professional licensing since 2017, developed and got the approval of operational manuals for the institute including CPDs, and public engagement.
- Immediate Past Chair, World Federation of Engineering Organizations (WFEO) Standing Committee on Anti-Corruption (2019–2023): Played a pivotal global role in development of WFEO Model Code and advancing engineering integrity, developing tools and protocols to combat corruption—a legacy directly embedded in the Integrity (I) and Ethical Standards (E) components of the HAIRSTEIC framework.
- Seasoned Infrastructure Governance Expert: Has held senior roles advising on major national and regional infrastructure projects, grounding the Reality (R) and Helicopter View (H) competencies in practical, large-scale execution.
- Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Professional: Has held roles of a Mediator, Sole Arbitrator, Party Appointed Arbitrator, Presiding Arbitrator and Client Advisor in both institutional and ad-hoc Arbitration on several disputes under International Commercial Arbitration laws and the Sole Dispute Avoidance and Adjudication Board (DAAB) in accordance with FIDIC protocols.
