Personal bio

Aksel Doruk is a Partner at Meltem Avocats, where he leads the firm’s international arbitration, maritime law, and cross-border dispute resolution practice.

He has been a member of the Paris Bar since 2011 and advises corporate clients, financial institutions, and shipowners in complex commercial and maritime disputes, including ICC, LCIA, LMAA, UNCITRAL, and ICSID proceedings.

Trained in France and Italy, Aksel began his career in international arbitration at Castaldi Mourre & Partners under Alexis Mourre, before joining Derains & Gharavi and later founding Meltem Avocats in 2018.

He regularly acts in high-value disputes in the construction, energy, shipping, infrastructure, and agri-food sectors, and is particularly experienced in the enforcement of foreign judgments and arbitral awards, including against sovereign entities and through vessel arrests.

Aksel is a co-author of Lamy Contrats Internationaux, Director of the CISG case law chronicle in the Revue de Droit des Affaires Internationales, and Regional Editor of the Delos Guide to Arbitration Places. He also coaches the University of Aix-Marseille team for the International Maritime Law Arbitration Moot.

He holds a double degree in French and Italian business law and a Master’s degree in International Economic Law. He works in French, English, and Italian, and speaks Turkish.
