Personal bio
Orji Agwu Uka is a Managing Counsel in the Dispute Resolution Practice Group at TEMPLARS. Orji has over a decade’s experience advising Nigerian and expatriate clients on diverse areas of Nigerian law and regularly appearing on their behalf before trial & appellate courts as well as domestic and international arbitral tribunals in high profile commercial and general civil disputes covering a broad range of causes.
He has acted as lead or co-counsel in several domestic and international commercial and investment arbitration proceedings. He drafted the trial and appellate court process, and appeared as co-counsel, in the landmark litigation that resulted in a $300m judgment for a client in the oil & gas industry and the validation of a significant stabilization statute.
Prior to joining Templars, Orji was a key member of the Dispute Resolution teams at two top commercial law firms in Lagos, Nigeria.
Orji graduated with a First-Class degree from Abia State University in 2010 after which he proceeded to the Nigerian Law School and was subsequently called to the Nigerian Bar. Orji also holds a Master of Law degree in International Business Law from King’s College London where he studies modules like International Investment Law.
Orji is an active member of the Nigerian Bar Association and has served the Association in different capacities including as a co-opted member of the National Executive Council [2020 - 2022], the Secretary of the NBA Constitution Review Committee, and a co-opted member of the Lagos Branch Executive Committee [2021 - 2023].
