Personal bio
My practice focuses on international arbitration and multi-jurisdictional proceedings - frequently with a link to Africa & the Middle East. I have been described as “friendly”, a “razor-sharp mind” and an “outstanding lawyer” in Legal Directories, “recommended for [my] ‘intellectual rigour’ and [my] ‘ability, rather rare on the market, to be equally comfortable handling civil law or common law cases’”. I am qualified as a Barrister (England & Wales), an Avocat au Barreau de Paris and a Registered Legal Practitioner with full rights of audience before the DIFC Courts (Dubai). I have experience of arbitrating international commercial disputes as advocate in English and French. I also sit as an arbitrator and have acted as Sole Arbitrator, Chairman of a Tribunal and Co-Arbitrator: I am registered with the ICC, LCIA, DIAC, CRCICA and ADCCAC. I am a Fellow of the CIArb. I have also acted as counsel before both common law and civil law judicial tribunals. I have experience in handling cases before the High Court (England & Wales) and the DIFC Courts, and have appeared as advocate before the Dubai World Tribunal. I also lecture at University (Arbitration / Comparative Dispute Resolution / Comparative Contract Law). I am fluent in English and French, and have a good working knowledge of Spanish.
